Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery or a nose job, can correct imperfections or physical deformities due to heredity or an injury that can affect normal breathing function.  Rhinoplasty can also improve and enhance the shape of the nose and overall balance and proportion of the face.

Rhinoplasty can be performed to improve the following issues:

  • Large or small nose that is out of proportion with facial features
  • Crooked and off-center nose
  • Large bulbous or upturned end of the nose
  • Oversize or flaring nostrils
  • Deviated septum or other structural defects

Rhinoplasty is a specialized surgical procedure that must be performed by a highly skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable plastic surgeon. Dr. Bahman Guyuron has had a passion for rhinoplasty for more than 3 decades and is locally, nationally, and internationally recognized for his success.

THE FIRST STEP

The first step is a consultation with Dr. Guyuron. During this consultation, Dr. Guyuron will discuss the candidate’s expectations and reason(s) for the surgery. To help ensure satisfaction with the end result, Dr. Guyuron utilizes state-of-the-art technology to analyze and alter life-size photographs to demonstrate the desired changes.

Patients can schedule an in-person or online consultation for rhinoplasty with Dr. Guyuron in Lyndhurst. If you live out of the area, consultations can be done via Facetime or Skype.

THE SURGERY

The rhinoplasty surgery is an outpatient procedure and can take a few hours to complete depending on the complexity.

To begin the surgery, Dr. Guyuron will make an incision along the skin to access the structures of the nose. Once the incision is made Dr. Guyuron can fix structural abnormalities such as a deviated septum, straighten a crooked nose, or remove cartilage to reshape the nose.

Patients will stay in the recovery suite at Zeeba Clinic until they are released to go home or to a hotel (for out-of-town patients).

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER RHINOPLASTY

After surgery, patients will have swelling and discoloration around the eyes and nose for several days. The clinic will schedule follow-up appointments for the next day and eight days post-surgery.  For this reason, patients should not return to work for 8-10 days after surgery. Full recovery can take a year to complete, but most patients enjoy the benefits of their new nose within a few weeks after surgery.
