There are several non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments to consider in your 40s. Most treatments can be done in the office in a short amount of time. Results can last up to 1 year, depending on the treatment.

INJECTABLES

Injectable products, such as Juvéderm and Botox, are used to fill, smooth, and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Commonly treated areas are the forehead, eyes, and mouth. Injectables are a perfect fix for deep creases that show up between the eyebrows and marionette lines, which appear around the nose and mouth. Fullness can also be added to the cheeks and lips. Results typically last about 3-6 months.

Another type of injection is fat injection.  This procedure, also known as fat grafting, transfers fat cells from an area of the patient’s own body, to an area that needs additional volume, such as cheeks or the lips. Fat injections can greatly improve deeper creases in the forehead, between the brows, and deep lines along the nose and mouth. Once the fat cells are reinjected and begin to develop a blood supply, they remain intact for longer lasting results.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels remove dead skin cells to reveal fresh, glowing skin. This treatment can be customized to address a wide range of concerns, such as sun damage, age spots, and acne scaring, while brightening and tightening the overall appears of the skin. Chemical peels are done in the office by applying a solution over the face or chest for a certain length of time before removing and revealing younger skin. Chemical peels may be done on a monthly basis to prolong the results. Talk to our aesthetician, Shawn Guyuron, to determine which chemical peel formula is best for you.

LASER SKIN RESURFACING

This procedure uses a special laser to penetrates deep into the skin to destroy and remove damaged cells. This procedure improves the appearance of age spots, sun damage, acne scars, wrinkles, and fine lines. Laser treatment is also used to remove unwanted hair and slow regrowth. The energy from the laser stimulates new collagen production, which can tighten loose areas of sagging skin around the jaw line and neck. Some redness is a normal side effect, but this will improve in a few days.

DERMABLADING

Another exfoliating treatment to consider in your 40s is dermablading. Dermablading is a deep exfoliating process that improves sun-damaged skin, acne scaring, and softens the appearance of fine lines. It is performed by using a surgical scalpel to gently “scrape” along the surface of the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing younger, vibrant skin. This treatment can be repeated on a monthly basis as needed.
